I graduated my second year in Fine Arts Academy. (Field: Painting) For my studies, ideas and more, I altered a children’s book. All photographs in the book are mine aside from page 1-2, 7, 18 and 23-24.
First I painted the cover with gel medium and paper scraps. The second layer is gouache. I wrapped the book in fabric and left it outdoors in my garden for a week. Then I unwrapped it, covered it with bistre pigments, acrylics and metallic paint. Once finished, I used a gloss varnish. (not in the video)

This spread is one of the first in my latest art journal so not really recent. (I think from last winter?) Somehow I didn’t feel like sharing this one… I guess because it’s not really layered, compared to the other spreads – it’s one of my most simple ones to date! But a few friends who took a peek in my art journal said it’s actually kinda cool, it reminded them of a video game. So I was like…ok fine, I’ll publish it. 🙂
Have a peek in my art journal 🙂 Click on the video below.
Why I actually wanted to show this is for the following reason: You will probably see I’m shaking a bit. Although I’m recovered from a muscle disease flare-up, there are still traces visible.
I have pain, on a daily base. Some days I’m shaky or have myoclonic seizures… But what’s the point in staying home? Most people will judge. (I had more criticism than I could handle really) What’s the point of taking meds if they turn you into a zombie? What’s the point in going to the hospital if they send you from one doctor to the other, not knowing what to do next?
My painting techniques aren’t perfect. My body isn’t perfect. But that doesn’t stop me. I’ve learned to ignore the pain and keep on doing what I love.
(And maybe my work will be a little wonky because of that but… who cares!)
This is my art journal from 2015. 🙂 And my friend Dubion made a song for it! Check out his other music here. Watch the full video below:
