I’m always searching for new ways to make my bowls more special. The first ones called “Atlantis” had a wet, sometimes golden shimmer on them. “Lemuria” pieces had sparkling mosaic-like layers. Paititi is a series currently on hold (I only made one so far), which have a very dark patina look and now… “Avalon” is here.
They look similar to the other series. Aged, rough, with crystals. And while they look a lot like the Atlantis ones (which have a lot of white too), these bowls are more mossy and dirty. Like a bowl you would find in the forest. But once you turn off the light… that’s when the magic appears. These bowls GLOW in the dark.
For example this one. A mini bowl which looks pale white with teal by day, finished with lapis lazuli stones. But once you turn off the light, a gorgeous blue light appears. I’ve tried many glow in the dark paints over the years but not one of them could offer the glow I was searching for. So I made the glow medium myself. Also most glow in the dark products create a neon green. I don’t think a neon radioactive kind of green would be fitting for Avalon bowls… so blue it is!
These bowls are non-toxic, non-radioactive and because I make the medium myself, I can say they are vegan friendly too. Perfect for the night stand because, once charged (which only takes a few minutes), the glow lasts all night. Of course it totally depends on the light source. The stronger the source (Sunlight works too), the more vibrant the glow will be.
The first glow in the dark bowls will be available during an art auction in my own facebook group “Lindsay’s Creative Circle”. The reason being, I wanted to give my supportive friends and clients the first chance to grab one. But anyone joining the group will get the sneak peeks and previews. Basically it’s a virtual art space where you can see more of my work but work by others too! For this auction I invited 2 of my good friends. Angie is offering whimsical mixed media pieces and Bethany creates the most gorgeous gemstone jewelry. I thought they would fit the Avalon theme for this auction perfectly. 🙂
Interested in these auctions? You are welcome to join the group here.
For those who have no time to follow Facebook groups (I get that) no worries, I will update my website soon with available pieces. I didn’t expect my sculptures to go so fast and because of that my stock is always limited to a few pieces max. I’m humbled and grateful for that 🙂 but this is also the reason why I didn’t create an online shop yet, I simply don’t have enough pieces left to open a shop. (saying this with lots of gratitude)
Sooo… what’s next? More bowls!
And even more series… but for now… I hope you enjoy the Avalons. 🙂
